INFLUENCE OF BOLLYWOOD AND TELEVISION IN FASHION INDUSTRY

let me discuss about influences who motivate and inspire common people of either yesterday or tomorrow, and one of the strongest influence is what we see and observe. bollywood and television divas have always influenced a common girl, i remember when i was in teen, i used to get posters of Kareena kapoor and get inspired to be a size zero,
lets take a flash back, how many of you remember buffoons and high back combing done judas and hair dos. you guessed it correct, Nanda the star of 60's gave birth to this style.
Nanda is a star that gave birth to this style of high buns and thick braids, make over artists tell that her high buns used to take a lot of time and buns, imagine such hard working hours and carrying such heavy bun must be like a pain in the neck, but this style was adopted by many women of those times, including my grand mother. even today my grand mom likes to do her hair do like her, with a nice chiffon sarees, with prints of oriental flowers. pearl necklaces to go with. Omg Nanda was definitively a diva of her times.
as the times were moving actresses started to experiment with their looks.

came the times of Saadhna the super diva of her times, she started the trend of Chinese flicks, and braids started to thin down but started being accessorized. we all remember her song.. ''JHUMKA GIRA RE BAREILY KE BAZAR MAI'' I see that music video and i fail to understand the technology of make up that time. the time when there was no MAC OR CRYLON OR BOBBY BROWNS in the industry how did these glam divas managed their look, this look was also adopted in many versions and by many divas for example babita randheer kapoor and mala sinha.

so came the time of late 60s and gave birth to the super duper diva Mumtaz. do you remember her song '' AAJ KAL TERE MERE PYAR KE CHARCHE '' her layered saree and a new birth to a style. '' ITS STILL CALLED AS MUMTAZ SAREE... the layers and no pleats became easier for  women to wear and carry. this style was adopted by sushmita sen in the song '' gori gori gori gori'' opposite shahrukh khan . also the same style gave birth to new style of lehangas that was called lehanga saree. a lot of my foreign clients when they come to India ask me for this saree as pleated sarees become difficult to carry for my foreign clients
.
 LATE 70'S
and came Zeenat amaan, the first song i ever sung was aap jaisa koi meri zindagi mai aaye , as a kid i never saw such gowns and deep plunging necklines worn by any other main lead actress, she is a glam diva and lot of new lot of actresses come and compare themselves with her. her boldness was definetely sexy but not vulgar, her sunglasses her red big roses again inspired the other lot of actresses to come. be it be Tina ambani or poonam dhillon. their style was seen easily inspired by zeenat amaan.
I just can't get over with zeenat amaan looks as she was the style icon. one of the first actresses who gave birth to fitness, before zeenat amaan actresses had really heavy at hip lines. on the top of that head to toe completely covered, zeenat made waves at a time when people said that working in movies is a big shame and also one of the first model turned actress. Miss Asia pacific zeenat amaan. a supermodel and first face of lux, hats off to you, i would love to wear high slit gowns with the elegance you carried.
So far so good now let's quickly discuss about television series. there are two big vamps of ekta kapoor, Ramola sikand / sudha chandran and kamolika of kasauti zindagi kay / urvashi dholakia. both these television stars killed the sexy sirens of bollywood in terms of style, creative bindis and back less bold blouses , lets thank both of them to give us these styles....
for a while we all started copying their styles in family functions and weddings of our loved a dear ones.

.     before kamolika entered in my life i never got an idea to mix tube tops with sarees or wear bikins with sarees. In my analysis people who were ahead of time are
the ones who become style icons, well isn't this a job of
any stylist or designer to work creatively and be a fashion
mom or dad. creating different and new looks help common people
to stay connected with fashion all the time.

Modelling

when i was a young child, i knew nothing about what modelling is, all i knew was '' CLAY MODELLING'' my mom used to buy clays for me and i used to play and create superman, spiderman, butterflies turtoise, in short i used to keep their image in front of me and transform them in 3d by my clays, who knew that one day this term modelling will become a huge name in my career,
by and large modelling is to immitate or to present an Idea, and models are supposed to bring that idea into reality, for example i have created a beautiful lehanga and i would want to sell it to my foreign clientelle i would definitely like to pick up a foreign model and show my clients how an Indian Lehanga can look on a foreign client.
In the west modelling sees no age/sex/color/cast/creed. If the manufacturer of a product feels that you are apt for his product
Alek Wek the black super model is the highest paid black model in paris/milan and newyork runways. she has been the show opener for many shows and big designers, she is also the new face of '' UNITED COLORS OF BENETTON ''. She has worked very hard on her body and even being a black her complexion is healthy and glowing. After arriving in London at age 14, Wek's psoriasis immediately cleared, possibly due to the damp climate. She enrolled in London's College of Fashion with a concentration in fashion business and technology.
Wek was discovered at an outdoor market in 1995 in Crystal Palace, London by a Models 1 scout. She appeared in the music video for "GoldenEye" by Tina Turner that year, and shortly thereafter began fashion modelling. She was signed to Ford Models in 1996. and also appeared in the "Got 'Til It's Gone" music video by Janet Jackson that year. She was named "Model of the Year" in 1997 by MTV,and was the first African model to appear on the cover of Elle that year.
Naomi Elaine Campbell (born 22 May 1970) is an English model. Scouted at the age of 15, she established herself among the top three most recognizable and in-demand models of the late 1980s and the 1990s, and she was one of six models of her generation declared "supermodels" by the fashion world.
In addition to her modelling career, Campbell has embarked on other ventures, which include a novel, an r&b-pop studio album, and several acting appearances in film and television, such as the modelling competition reality show The Face and its international offshoots. Campbell is also involved in charity work for various causes. Her personal life is widely reported, particularly her relationships with prominent men—including boxer Mike Tyson and actor Robert De Niro—and several highly publicised convictions for assault.
Lea T (born 19 April 1981 and referred to then as "Leandro Medeiros Cerezo"), is a native of Brazil, and one of the world's current favorites in the fashion modeling industry. She is most known as having been the Muse of Givenchy. She is also a pop culture icon of Transgender Advocacy in the LGBTQQIA Community. She was first discovered by Givenchy senior designer Riccardo Tisci and became the face of Givenchy in late 2010. Her first runway show was for Alexandre Herchcovitch duringSão Paulo Fashion Week in January 2011. She has been featured in editorials in Vogue Paris, Hercules Magazine, Interview Magazine, Cover Magazine and Love Magazine. In 2011, she was also the cover star of two editions of the Spring/Summer 2011 edition of Love Magazine, one as the solo model and another featuring her kissing Kate Moss. Though still rated as one of the world's top models, Lea T. is no longer ranked on the Top 50 models list at models.com. In 2013, she participated in the Italian version of Dancing with the Stars on Rai Uno entitled Ballando con le Stelle
Carmen Dell'Orefice (born June 3, 1931) is an American model and actress. She is known within the fashion industry for being the world's oldest working model as of the Spring/Summer 2012 season. She was on the cover of Vogue at the age of 15 and has been modelling ever since. At the age of 13, while riding a bus to ballet class, she was approached to model by the wife of photographer Herman Landschoff. Her test photos, taken at Jones Beach, were a “flop” according to Dell'Orefice. In 1946, her godfather introduced her to Vogue and the 15-year old signed a modeling contract for $7.50 an hour. She became a favorite model of photographer Erwin Blumenfeld who shot her first Vogue cover in 1947. She appears in the December 15, 1947 issue of US Vogue as Little Red Riding HoodSnow White andCinderella along with model Dorian Leigh, actors Ray Bolger and Jose Ferrer.
Dell'Orefice and her mother struggled financially, and her modeling income was not enough to sustain the family. With no telephone,Vogue had to send runners to their apartment to let Dell'Orefice know about modeling jobs. She roller-skated to assignments to save on bus fares. She was so malnourished that famed fashion photographers Horst P. Horst and Cecil Beaton had to pin back dresses and stuff the curves with tissue.
Dell'Orefice and her mother were accomplished seamstresses and made extra money making clothes. One of their customers wasDorian Leigh. Dell'Orefice later became best friends with Leigh’s younger sister, model Suzy Parker. Together they were bridesmaids at Leigh’s second wedding to Roger Mehle in 1948.
In 1947, Dell'Orefice's rate was raised to $10–$25 per hour. She appeared on the October 1947 cover of Vogue, at age 16, one of the youngest Vogue cover models, (along withNiki TaylorBrooke Shields, and Monika Schnarre). She was also on the November 1948 cover of Vogue. She worked with the most famous fashion photographers of the era including Irving PennGleb DerujinskyFrancesco ScavulloNorman Parkinson, and Richard Avedon. Dell'Orefice was photographed by Melvin Sokolsky for Harper’s Bazaar in 1960. The iconic image titled Carmen Las Meninas has been collected internationally. Sokolsky also photographed her for the classic Vanity Fair lingerie campaign in which Dell'Orefice obscures her face with her hand. She was painter Salvador Dalí’s muse.

No one and nothing can stop me to become a superstar.i can see myself after 5 years as an bollywood star!

Hello everyone, I m sapna chanana, since childhood I had a craze for modelling and acting but people and family took it lightly, taking me as a kid. With the passage of time I became more serious about it. I started observing actors, actresses, runway models, hoardings, banners and started thinking if I would be at there place how would I act or pose or walk. People used to laugh at me sometimes but I never cared. I always plan for things, set a goal and work accordingly. I m a staunch believer in the fact that to create a great life, one has to enjoy all the smallest pleasures of life. My mother used to support me alot in achieving my dreams, she always wanted to see me becoming a star unfortunately she died last year and now I m more focused about my career. Apart from modelling and acting from last 4 yrs I was working as an online marketing professional. I started working for google, I spent 2.5yrs in google, learnt, got trained, cleared internal exams and got certified. Then I started working for a U.S. based software company as an online marketing manager. 6 months back I left my job because it became really difficult for me to look after my home and work both together. I used to work in night shifts so I quit the job. These days m working on myself, watching bollywood news, latest updates about the industry, keeping myself up to date, observing acting skills of actors n actresses, villains as well. I learn from every character in the movie. I really wish to be a famous actress a day. Thanks alot

Monsoon trends this 2014
People in India tend to forget this season as their fashion trends, but as we dress for spring or summer, we also dress for autumn, festive and winter season, but do you know that monsoon too has trendsetters examples. Internationally people design special monsoon range, keeping the skirt and trouser lengths to ¾ ths wearing semi fitted clothes and whats even interesting is wide range of umbrellas to choose from, AS WE SAY ‘’CUT IT SHORT’’ if you have old pair of jeans just cut their lenghts
According your comfort level, you can cut the from capri length to hot pants.
Well if in India designers don’t create monsoon range so what? At city plus we will design this look for you, let’s start discussing about the colours first.
MONOCHROMATICS
You can never ever go wrong with monochromatic it means single colour, if you wear orange top you need to wear an orange colour trouser or skirt with it, wear nice hats to complete your monsoon look
The colors that you can choose are:-
ORANGE
FUSCIA
Cream
Steel gray
Electric blue
BAGS:- please use water proof bags, hand bags and clutches , the camel , black and browns are the top most colour in this range
HEELS:-
Say no to heels in the monsoon, go FLATS complete flats because in monsoons you can never predict the rains, so always stay safe with Flats and At the max WEDGE heels . As we know that our shoe rack is nothing without the evergreen flip flops, to our joy, Havaianas is now available in India. This Brazilian brand presents fun and funky flip flops to mainly beach bums but we think they work wonders during the monsoons too. They’re light, can dry in an instant, and they add some colour to the gloomy atmosphere. No monsoon can be spent without the classic England-originated Wellington Boots. Perfect for a regular walker, they protect your beloved trousers from any puddle or crater. Roxy’s new collection of Wellington boots comes with a quick-dry knitted nylon lining, allowing the boots to be worn easily, and it also has a rubber out-sole for a firm grip. This is nothing but style and comfort in one accessory.

SUMMARY:-
Monsoon fashion is fun fashion. Bright cheerful colours like corals and yellows are hot right now. In terms of patterns, checks and florals are in vogue right now. Layering is in, so try to mix and match your stuff. You can experiment a lot with that. Try wearing a white top with a sleeveless coral top; it's the kind of look that's in right now
